Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, L.A. LIVE is a large, multi-venue entertainment campus that includes Crypto.com Arena, Peacock Theatre, hotels, restaurants, underground parking structures, corporate offices, and outdoor public spaces. Hosting major sporting events, concerts, and seasonal attractions, L.A. LIVE requires a highly coordinated security operation to manage large crowds while maintaining continuous situational awareness across a complex and dynamic environment. To support this, SAS Security, L.A. LIVE’s trusted security integrator, was tasked with modernizing the campus’s Command Center into a centralized, future-ready security environment.
Challenge
Prior to the modernization project, L.A. LIVE’s security operations relied primarily on standalone Genetec workstations, where operators were required to manage multiple screens, devices, and input systems, frequently switching between workstations and physical controls to perform routine tasks. This fragmented environment limited real-time visibility, increased cognitive workload, and placed unnecessary strain on operators, particularly during high-pressure events. The new system needed to integrate seamlessly with hundreds of Genetec cameras and access control points while also supporting additional video and data sources without introducing further complexity for operators or the underlying infrastructure.

SAS Security selected VuWall’s TRx centralized management platform as the foundation of the new command center. VuWall’s open architecture and native integration with Genetec played a decisive role in the selection process. TRx’s Genetec Security Center plug-in brings camera feeds together with RTSP streams, broadcast feeds, and operational data within a unified interface. Operators can access and display the information without continually switching between standalone workstations during routine monitoring and live incidents.
The deployment also includes thirteen (13) PAK 40 Video Wall & KVM Nodes, providing high-performance, low-latency processing and flexible source distribution across the video wall and operator desks. It also includes twenty-eight (28) VuStream 350 IP KVM encoders that extend high-quality video/KVM signals across the network, while VuWall’s Application Server integrates web sources, RTSP feeds, and dashboards into the command center environment. The room is also equipped with two (2) ControlVu PoE touch panels that provide supervisors with intuitive, one-touch access to layout changes and rapid scenario switching, enabling them to quickly adapt the video wall as conditions change during live events or incidents.
At L.A. LIVE, our Command Center serves as the operational hub for safety and security across a complex, high-traffic district that hosts some of the most prominent events in the country. Modernizing the center was about more than upgrading technology. It was about giving our team a unified operating picture and the tools to make faster, more informed decisions in real time. Working with SAS Security and VuWall, we’ve strengthened our ability to monitor, coordinate, and respond across the district with greater confidence, while building a platform that can scale to meet our future needs and support our ongoing commitment to the safety of our guests, staff, and performers.
Just as importantly, this investment positions us for the next phase of operational maturity. As the district continues to grow and the security environment becomes increasingly complex, the Command Center can evolve beyond a traditional security operations model into a centralized, multi-agency coordination hub. By creating a common operating picture that can be shared across security, public safety, emergency management, venue operations, and external partners, we are building the foundation for more effective collaboration, faster information sharing, and a coordinated response to incidents of any scale. Our goal is not only to enhance day-to-day operations, but to establish a command environment that brings the right stakeholders together, in real time, to support informed decision-making and ensure the safest possible experience across the entire L.A. LIVE campus.
— Joe Schuetz, Vice President, Security at LA LIVE
Since its commissioning, the new L.A. LIVE Command Center has significantly improved day-to-day security operations and overall responsiveness by giving operators a centralized view of critical information and simpler access to the systems they use most. Centralized visualization has strengthened situational awareness across the campus, while streamlined workflows help reduce operator fatigue and support faster response times during critical situations. Offloading processing tasks from local machines has also enabled the use of lighter workstations, improving system resilience and long-term maintainability. The result is a more efficient, scalable, and adaptable command center capable of supporting both routine operations and large-scale events.

VuWall's Genetec plugin was a significant factor in this project, enabling us to deliver a truly unified solution. Beyond that, the support we received from VuWall's sales engineering team throughout the pre-sales and post-sales phases was second to none and played an essential role in designing and executing a system that met the client's requirements.
