Rising 828 meters above Downtown Dubai, the Burj Khalifa, is more than an architectural icon — it is a fully operational vertical city. Developed and operated by Emaar Properties, the tower welcomes approximately 17 million visitors annually and generates more than US$621 million in ticket revenue. Supporting a destination of this magnitude requires more than engineering excellence. It demands a highly reliable, always-on security infrastructure capable of monitoring, coordinating, and responding in real time — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Challenge
With approximately 17 million visitors annually — an average of 47,000 people each day — the Burj Khalifa operates at a scale where safety, operational continuity, and rapid incident response are a top priority. As a mixed-use vertical city with observation decks, corporate suites, hospitality venues, and residential spaces, the tower requires centralized visibility across multiple systems and data sources. EMAAR, the building’s owner and operator, needed a highly reliable and scalable security control room solution capable of unifying video, operational intelligence, and critical infrastructure monitoring into a single, intuitive platform. In a facility of this magnitude, even minor disruptions can have significant impact — making resilience and real-time responsiveness essential.
VuWall collaborated with MVP Tech (a Convergint company) to deliver an advanced video wall management solution for the Burj Khalifa Security Control Room. At the heart of the system is VuWall’s TRx Video Wall Management Software, enabling operators to easily visualize, control, and distribute information across the control room. The deployed solution also includes VuWall Application Server for secure sharing and control of websites, dashboards, RDP sessions and files, PAK 40 video wall and KVM nodes, and VuStream 150 AV-over-IP encoders for flexible IP-based signal distribution. In addition, since EMAAR uses Milestone XProtect, they were able to benefit from the VuWall Milestone Plugin in TRx, enabling seamless integration with the VMS for simplified video wall control through a single user interface. This architecture provides operators with fast access to live and recorded videos, operational dashboards, and critical data – all managed from one unified platform. The result is a centralized, interoperable platform that simplifies operations while increasing visibility and control. Complementing VuWall’s technology, the room is equipped with state-of-the-art LED video walls by Absen and ergonomic technical furniture by CTF Consoles.

By combining advanced video wall management technology with customized ergonomic consoles and high-performance LED displays, the Burj Khalifa’s security operations center now fully meets Emaar’s critical operational requirements. Operators benefit from enhanced situational awareness through unified visualization of video and data, enabling faster and more informed decision-making. The intuitive control environment improves response times while strengthening communication and collaboration between operators and supervisors. At the same time, the scalable architecture ensures the system can evolve alongside the building’s future needs, protecting long-term investment and supporting continued operational excellence. In a landmark of this scale and global visibility, the new control room delivers the reliability, flexibility, and centralized control required for true mission-critical performance.
The Burj Khalifa Security Control Room sets a new benchmark for large-scale, mission-critical environments. Designed to support one of the world’s most visited and recognizable landmarks, the solution demonstrates how intelligent system integration, open architecture, and intuitive control can transform complex security operations into a unified, high-performance command center.
Delivered in partnership with MVP Tech/Convergint, this project highlights VuWall’s ability to deliver reliable, customized solutions for mission-critical environments, even at the scale and complexity of the world’s tallest building — providing resilient, scalable platforms capable of supporting continuous 24/7 operations in environments where reliability is paramount. At the scale and visibility of the world’s tallest building, there is no room for compromise. This deployment stands as a powerful example of how modern control room technology can elevate security operations.
