Safe.brussels Enhances Regional Security with VuWall’s Centralized Video Wall Management Solution
The Government of the Brussels-Capital Region decided to create a new Public Interest Organization (PPO) called: Safe.brussels. The creation of Safe.brussels is intended to enable the management of security in Brussels to be organized in coordination with all stakeholders (fire fighters, emergency services, law enforcement, public transport, …)
SAFE.Brussels wanted to create a centralized management system that allows controlling, organizing, and displaying multiple video sources on multiple screens. The main challenge in this project was to bring together information residing on the specific networks of the different stakeholders. The solution also had to be interoperable with the already deployed Genetec Video Management System (VMS) through which all cameras are managed.
VuWall’s ecosystem of products managed by the TRx centralized control software is a technological solution designed to optimize the management and distribution of images and data on large screens or video walls in professional environments, such as control centers, surveillance rooms, meeting rooms, or complex data visualization facilities.
Powering over 30 rooms with 60+ displays
The TRx control software, PAK multiview decoder nodes and VuStream encoders were utilized to encode sources from distinctive networks and seamlessly display them on a network of multiple video walls and individual displays across the coordination center, ensuring high-quality, real-time content delivery. Each room, equipped with either a single or multiple screens, is now supported by these robust solutions, allowing for dynamic content management and smooth operation.
Solution
The system allows connecting a variety of video sources (PCs, cameras, servers, and network applications) and displaying them simultaneously on multiple screens.
It features a user-friendly graphical interface, accessible via a computer or tablet, enabling users to control videos and manage screen layouts in real time. Dynamic display capabilities allow content windows to be reconfigured on the fly based on priorities or specific needs—for example, a control center can display security footage while monitoring performance data.
The system offers flexible layout customization, supporting side-by-side video displays or real-time information scrolling. Multi-user functionality allows multiple users to control screens simultaneously or within dedicated zones, with role-based access control. Using TRx’s official genetec plugin, the system allowed for viewing both cameras and videos wall from a single application.
Remote management is also possible through a centralized platform, enabling users to control and monitor the video wall from a distance. Additionally, the system supports high-resolution displays, including Full HD, 4K, and even 8K, ensuring optimal image quality.
Results
By centralizing data and simplifying control, personnel can respond more quickly and efficiently to events or emergencies, ensuring a higher level of security and operational efficiency. The system is highly scalable, allowing it to adapt to various configurations and evolving needs, making it suitable for a wide range of environments, from small monitoring stations to large-scale control centers.
By consolidating multiple content sources into a single management system, organizations can significantly reduce operational costs, minimize infrastructure complexity, and streamline workflows. This integration eliminates the need for multiple independent platforms, improving overall efficiency and reducing the risk of errors.
