Smooth Sailing with Smarter Control

Enhancing MSC Cruise Management UK’s Control Room with VuWall’s TRx Platform

MSC Cruise Management UK, part of one of the world’s largest cruise lines – MSC Cruises – , runs a 24/7 control centre in Uxbridge to ensure safety and coordination of its global fleet. As operations expanded, the existing control room—built around  multiple PCs and separated workflows— was no longer fully aligned with MSC’s growing needs for efficiency and real-time decision-making. To modernize, MSC partnered with AV integrator Cinos and deployed VuWall’s TRx Centralized Management Platform.

VuWall’s technology transformed the space, streamlining content control and boosting collaboration. With integrated VuStream encoders, a ControlVu touch interface, and seamless video wall management, the upgraded system gave MSC’s operators the flexibility, visibility, and responsiveness to operate confidently and agilely—now and into the future.

Challenge

MSC’s Maritime Support Centre in Uxbridge operates 24/7 to ensure the safety and coordination of vessels around the globe. However, the control room team was constrained by a fragmented setup that required multiple computers to access different systems, limiting efficiency and responsiveness. Operators were unable to view multiple dashboards simultaneously or switch quickly between content sources, slowing decision-making. Collaboration with other departments and remote offices was also impacted due to the lack of integration across locations.

To enhance operational efficiency, MSC Cruise Management required a more flexible and scalable solution that could streamline content management, improve real-time communication, and further support its fleet of 25 vessels that operate globally by leveraging advanced technology.

Solution

To simplify content management and improve visibility, MSC Cruise Management partnered with trusted AV integrator Cinos to implement a comprehensive solution centred around VuWall’s TRx centralized management platform. The system enables centralized control of all video wall content and includes VuStream encoders for streaming desktop content directly to the video wall. The ControlVu touch panel allows operators to select custom display layouts and presets with the touch of a button, but also to manage video, audio, and lighting with ease. The VuWall Application Server provides centralized access to web browsers, eliminating the need for multiple PCs.

The solution integrates seamlessly with MSC Cruise Management’s existing Samsung LED displays and allows for content sharing between multiple rooms, including the president’s and communications offices, enabling direct interaction with the control room. The entire project was completed in just four months during live operations, ensuring a smooth deployment with near-zero downtime.

Results

MSC Cruise Management’s new control room empowers operators to manage all displays from a single, intuitive interface, streamlining workflows and reducing complexity.

The new setup enhances efficiency, and the updated integration between rooms has strengthened communication and coordination.

Looking ahead, MSC Cruises plans to expand the system to its Geneva office, enabling content sharing and collaboration across locations while further increasing operational efficiency on a global scale.

The upgrade enabled our team to effortlessly switch between multiple content sources and enhanced our ability to monitor and respond in real time. Cinos has delivered a solution that strengthens collaboration and supports our long-term needs.”
